Resistance welded fasteners are materially binding and can potentially eliminate the need for laborious welding operations. Premium resistance weld fasteners allow for additional components to be attached to an existing metal part, while allowing the fastener itself to stay permanently attached.
Some of the different types of weld fasteners include weld nuts, weld studs and weld pins. Weld fasteners are a good solution for creating a super-strong and permanent connection between steel and the fastener.
CD Studs, or Capacitor Discharge Weld Studs, are mainly used in sheet metal applications.
Where a fabricator may drill a hole to insert a bolt for an attachment point, a CD Stud can be shot to the attachment side with no reverse side marking or bolt head. This leaves a clean and well finished look to the product with no compromise in quality or strength and achieves a significant time and cost savings.
CD (capacitor discharge) stud welders utilize a capacitor storage system to produce a rapid electrical discharge, resulting in fast, high-integrity welds, even on thin-gauge materials.
In contrast to arc welds, CD welds do not require ceramic ferrules or gas. The direct-current arc creates a shorter weld time, renders oxidation and heat concentration provided by ferrules and fluxes unnecessary.
These are suitable for use with Stud Welding Machines.
Our range of CD Weld Studs are as per DIN 32501/3 or ISO 13918.
