Washers

A washer is a thin plate & most commonly has a disk-shape with a hole in middle.

In addition, Washers are also used for locking a device and reducing the vibration. These locking washers are available in various types such as spring washers, star washers, multi-tooth washers, disc spring washers, wave washers, taper washers, safety washers etc.

These are available in Mild Steel, Spring Steel and Stainless Steel. Washers can be classified into 3 broad classifications

Plain Washers

A plain simple disk, its main purpose is to distribute the load of a threaded fastener.

They may be oversize to further distribute load on softer materials.

Spring and Locking Washers

These are used for locking a device and reducing the vibration.

They reduce loosening by preventing unscrewing rotation of the fastening device; locking washers are usually called spring washers. These provide axial flexibility; are also useful in preventing fastening or loosening due to vibrations in machinery etc.

A huge range of washers in star washers, multi-tooth washers, disc spring washers, wave washers, taper washers, safety washers, wedge-lock etc. available in ready stock with us. These are available in Mild Steel, Spring Steel and Stainless Steel.

WEDGE-LOCK WASHERS

Bolted connections tend to work themselves loose under certain operating conditions. Vibrations cause particular problems as they can overpower the “self-locking effect” of bolted connections.

This can lead to functional failure or even lead to the connection coming apart. As it’s not always possible to know what forces are acting on the structure, and as constructional measures cannot be implemented everywhere, securing elements are often used.

One of the few effective securing technologies available is the HEICO-LOCK® wedge locking system, the effectiveness of which has been demonstrated by the latest experimental standards (including DIN 65151, DIN 25201-4, NASM 1312-7).

SHIM WASHERS

Shim rings are flat washers used in combination when axial clearance must be offset.

This could be on a shaft where there is a locking ring/bearing, between which clearance must be offset.

By combining washers of different thicknesses you can precisely offset the clearance.
